Samson / Samson and Delilah / West Australian Opera - Perth International Arts Festival 2006
1. THE WEST AUSTRALIAN - Neville Cohn - 27/02/2006
....The star of the evening was Stuart Skelton, a tenor ideally suited to the opera's eponymous role. He produced the most agreeable stream of mellow sounds in phrasing that was the hallmark of refined musicianship. Certainly, he adapted chameleon-like to the many interpretive nuances of the part. The closing moments of the opera were particularly affecting as Samson calls on the Lord for strength to bring the temple of Dagon crashing on the Philistines. Here, one felt that Skelton was entirely in sympathy with the role.
2. THE OPERA CRITIC - Rosalind Appleby - 06/03/2006
....The musical highlight of the evening was Stuart Skelton's heroic Samson. |
