Lohengrin / Lohengrin Baden Baden Festspiel
1. OMM (Online Musik Magazin) 11/8/2006 - Christoph Wurzel
In place of the indisposed Klaus Florian Vogt, was the australian Tenor, Stuart Skelton. Skelton's last minute arrival as replacement was so short notice that he had no chance to carry out the staging. Vogt played the role of Lohengrin mute from the stage, while Skelton sang from the stage apron. Skelton sang a totally effortless, dazzling Knight. His Grail Narration had the audience enthralled: absolutely sure in intonation with a true core in the voice and with the finest Legato, a Heldentenor who also displayed myriad lyrical facettes.
2. FORUM OPERA 23/6/2006 - Pierre-Emmanuel Lephay
Stuart Skelton (who came as a last minute replacement for the indisposed Klaus Florain Vogt), valiantly performed his role, singing Lohengrin from the side of the stage, and was greeted by overwhelmingly enthusiastic ovations at the final curtain. The Australian tenor indeed posseses an ideal voice for the role of Lohengrin and he is a singer who can subtly alternate heroism and lyricism.
Lohengrin / Lohengrin Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe
1. STUTTGART NACHRICHTEN 13/7/2001 - Nike Huber
.....A pleasantly timbred, cultivated and well controlled Tenor with radiant power in the high voice was brought for the role of Lohengrin by Stuart Skelton
2. BADISCHES NEUES NACHRICHTEN 13/7/2001.
.....Skelton sang the Swan Knight with a radiant, metalically timbred Heldentenor.
3. DER NEUE MERKER 09/2001. - Ludwig Steinbach .....A vocally outstanding performance from Stuart Skelton as Lohengrin. Here apparently is a great hope for the difficult fach of the Wagner tenor. His powerful voice has a good dramatic core, knows Heldentenoral attack and a great deal of intensity. He also had soft tones and the ability to bring light and shade at his complete command.
4. OPERA MAGAZINE January edition .... Stuart Skelton of the second cast - a spectacular, radiant, metallic Heldentenor...
