Stuart Skelton to open 2016/17 MET season in Tristan & Isolde

The Metropolitan Opera has announced that Tristan und Isolde, featuring Stuart Skelton and Nina Stemme in the title roles, will open its 2016/17 season, the first time the opera has opened the MET season since 1937. The performances will be conducted by Sir Simon Rattle and the production, a new co-production with the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden and Teatr Wielki-Polish National Opera, will be directed by Mariusz Trelinski, replacing Willy Decker who has withdrawn due to health reasons.
